Our cohort, creative coaching, and therapy services are available to all Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 16-25.
Community engagements and TAY engagement trainings are available to all individuals, groups, organizations, or anyone else who might be interested!
Urban Beats staff leads cohorts focusing on wellness through a multi-tiered approach. Grounded by trauma-informed curriculum developed by our in-house therapist and youth support partners, classes allow students to explore various artistic modalities as they learn about wellness, character, goal setting, relationships, recovery, and leadership.
If you are interested in starting up an Urban Beats cohort at your school, program, or organization, please fill out our contact form!
Participants in search of creative coaching are guided by staff members or local artists who specialize and have passions in different forms of artistic expression. Members can work towards perfecting their craft for a possible showcase or artistic installment within the San Diego Community. They also will gain experience in creating anti-stigma social media messaging. Additionally, we have our own in-house studio for youth to set up appointment and use! All forms of self-expression are welcomed!
Current staff specializations include dance, DJ'ing, music production, rap, spoken word, visual art (painting, murals, drawing).
If you don't see an art form that you're interested in, please reach out, and we can find a way to make it a reality!
Our in-house Pre-licensed therapist is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, and is available to members as both a resource and therapeutic support. Members are able to access individual and group therapeutic services, as well as support in accessing different resources in order to increase overall wellness and manage mental health.
Urban Beats is passionate about not only spreading messages about wellness to our youth, but also to the community at large! We host various events throughout the year in the San Diego Community that are welcome to the public! Be sure to check out our calendar for upcoming events!
If your organization is looking to collaborate, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!
TAY Engagement Trainings
Our free TAY engagement trainings will teach providers how they can use the creative arts as a tool to reach and serve transition aged youth on a deeper level to talk about mental health and wellness.
Providers will be able to do the following:
Understand how the arts can be powerful in one’s journey and healing
Learn how to facilitate conversations about the arts to further learn about a participant
Incorporate interactive activities and games into their organizations
